Ranked Among 200 California Cities, Santa Clarita Remains Near The Top In Safety And Crime Prevention
It was a tagline often used by Santa Clarita real estate agents back in the 90s, and is one of the driving reasons behind many moves to the valley from other parts of California as well as the nation.
Over the years the rankings tended to fall, and once they dipped past the number 5 spot, the tagline was pretty much dropped, not that there still weren’t many great reasons to move to Santa Clarita, including great neighborhoods, schools, shopping, and commuter access to the greater Metropolitan Los Angeles area. But a new study, conducted by SmartAsset, shows that once again, Santa Clarita has risen to the rank of number 3 in the nation’s safest cities.
The study included five metrics:
- Violent Crime
- Property Crime
- Vehicular Mortality Rate
- Drug Poisoning Mortality Rate
- Percentage of Population Engaged In Excessive Drinking
Among the top findings, there were only 907 reported property crimes per 100,000 residents, with 131 violent crimes reported per 100,000 residents (Making Santa Clarita 16th in lowest violent crime rates). Drug poisoning mortality rates were 10.5/100,000 residents.
